About this Painting
This "still life of a crime" was originally done for a book cover in 1970.  When two Secret Service agents saw another one of Mort's crime-themed paintings, The Money Game, at an exhibit of his World War II art at the U.S. Navy Memorial Museum, in Washington, D.C. in 1982, they approached him with an idea.  They wanted to publish the painting as a limited edition print for Secret Service agents. Working with Mort in 1983 , they created Capital Workshop Publishing, and released a limited edition print of The Money Game. In 1991 this follow-up painting, The Caper, was  also released as an edition of  limited edition prints for the Secret Service community.
